How Jesus declared victory over H.U.N.G.E.R!"
The actual miracle of Jesus feeding the 5000 MEN, not including women and children(So technically, there were 20,000 people in attendance),. How many dollars worth of food did
He actually give away miraculously..
Jesus said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat? He said this to test him, for He Himself knew what he would do." "Philip answered him, "Two hundred(200) denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little." (dih-NEHR-ih-igh)
Philip gave a practical 'common sense' answer."Two hundred(200) denarii" was what some have figured out to be the equivalent of 200 days meager earnings in his time.
(maybe equal to our minimum wage nowadays.)
"One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, "There is a lad here who has five(5) barley loaves and two(2) fishes, but what are they for so many?"
Andrew took the same view as Philip, the only difference being that he knew of someone
who had a "LITTLE FOOD" Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the MEN sat down, about five thousand(5,000) in number."
So this mountain had grass, which had to make a better seat than the rocks that are typical for that area. The Gospel Writer, John, says there were about five thousand(5,000) men, but the Greek term used here is gender specific, meaning that only the men were usually numbered.
The whole crowd, including men, women, and children, could have been four(4) times that number.
"Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had "GIVEN THANKS"(Thanksgiving) He distributed them to those who were seated; also the fish, and as much as they wanted."
Jesus accepted "THESE LOAVES"(a kind and generous donation) from the boy and GAVE THANKS for them. It was customary among the Jews to GIVE THANKS before and after the meal. In other words, The Body of Christ was extremely appreciative of the "BREAD" you offered towards the benefit of feeding families who sat at the "TABLE' , awaiting to be fed.
"And when they had eaten their fill, He told His disciples,
"Gather up the leftover fragments, that NOTHING MAY BE LOST."
So this wasn't a symbolic meal or a snack, it was a FULL MEAL, and they collected the leftovers.
Even though Jesus could miraculously reproduce this food, He gathered it up, so that none would be wasted. "So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five(5) barley loaves left by those who had eaten."
Twelves(12) baskets full is more than they had to start.
And there were 12 baskets of fragments left-over. Again, others who have studied the references see the number of baskets, "12" as being significant, or relative to the 12 tribes of Israel in the desert.
12 also represents the number of months in a year, which through your donations, we will be able to gather the fragments of "LEFT OVERS" to prevent hungry people from being "LEFT OUT"
My friends & family, by your kindness and generosity, Your donations will allow Simon Of Cyrene Ministries to be able to 'Combat H.U.N.G.E.R. to offer FOOD(both natural and spiritual) to communities who struggle between having to make a decision of paying their bills, getting medication and eating.
NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO MAKE A CHOICE TO EAT WHEN THEY ARE HUNGRY!!!
Thank you so much for your donation of your equivalent of "5 Barley Loaves and 2 FISHES" towards the thousands of people who you may not know are struggling with FOOD Insecurities. It's great people like YOU who make the world a better place to live with the love you've shown.
Would you consider a donation? DONATION IS TOO SMALL!
